Drew went to the Carolina game today and Joseph and I were lucky enough to spend the day with Grandaddy and Great-Grandmom. He was such a little angel. We went out to lunch and pigged out on banana pudding. We watched football and went for a walk in his fancy new jog stroller. He was so peaceful sleeping in Grandaddy's big ol arms. I'm afraid we'll pay for all this peaceful angelic behavior tonight! One thing that has been difficult to adjust to is the fact that no two days are the same. I'm a very scheduled person, and its impossible to predict how the days and nights are going to play out. I think I'm learning more to adapt and accept things as they come, which will be a blessing in the long run.
Welcome to the Lucas family blog where we keep friends and family updated as we travel the journey of congenital third-degree heart block with our daughter, Foster Grace. Here we also include fun family updates and other things on our minds as we accept this challenge with faith and in reliance on God's grace. If you are experiencing a similar challenge with CHB, I'm glad you stumbled upon us! Please contact us: annaslucas@gmail.com

A Rare Sight
Joseph's eyes open! Finally captured on camera. Joseph still has his days and nights confused, so he's rarely alert enough during daylight hours to capture those eyes on camera. He parties between the hours of 4 and 7 am, sometimes much more. Here are those big blues. I think he has my eyes and Drew's nose. Most people say he looks just like Drew. I think the jury's still out, though.

Car Seat Mania
We took him to Grandpa's outdoor orchestra concert. Weather was mildly chilly - baby was dressed like an eskimo - poor thing was burning up by the end.
Joseph loves his car seat. I'm not a very good stay indoors all day type of person, so I've had him out and about almost from the beginning. We've been to vote, to the doctor, out to lunch with daddy and Amber, to work with me twice, to Grandpa's outdoor orchestra concert, and to the grocery store. Sometimes he likes to sit in his car seat just because, which is his perogative I suppose.
Joseph Michael Lucas
We've created this blog to share with our friends and family our journey along the way as we raise our newborn son, Joseph Michael Lucas. We are so thrilled that he is here and everything is going great. He's the sweetest baby and we love him more every day. Joseph is now 2 weeks old. He was born on October 7, 2008 at 8:19 pm, weighing 7 pounds 1 ounce and 19 inches long. He has the funniest brown hair. The past two weeks have been hectic and stressful trying to establish our home with him in it, but awesome nonetheless. We're starting to gain confidence as new parents and it's the most wonderful feeling. Enjoy the blog. I'm going to try to update it often.
